Cumbrian bakery Lovingly Artisan has won several prestigious awards.

At the 13th Britain’s Best Loaf awards, the bakery, which is based near Kendal, secured top accolades from more than 200 entries.

These included gold awards for its Rye Berry Sourdough and Wholemeal Barber Wheat Sourdough, silver awards for its Cheese & Marmite Sourdough (Flavoured Sourdough category) and White Sourdough Tin (Plain Sourdough category), and a bronze award for its Malted Barley loaf in the Innovation category.

The bakery also enjoyed success at the third Britain’s Best Cake Awards, collecting silver medals for its Ginger & Marmalade Sourdough Bake (Modern Cake category) and Malt Fruit Tea Loaf (Vegan Cake category).

Winners and overall champions in both competitions were announced at the UK Food & Drink Shows, held at the NEC Birmingham.

Co-owners Aidan Monks and Catherine Connor said: “It’s a real honour to win medals in both Britain’s Best Loaf and Britain’s Best Cake.

“The entire team is over the moon. We are constantly striving to improve, and awards like this help us benchmark our work against our peers.

“We never stand still and remain committed to developing high-quality, sustainable loaves and bakes for our customers every day.

“We’d like to thank every member of the team for their contribution to this achievement.”
