Two Lake District venues have been named among the top 100 pubs in Britain.
The prestigious Good Food Guide has published its list of the top hostelries in the country.
At number 63 is the Punch Bowl Inn in Crosthwaite, near Kendal, and number 71 is the Drunken Duck Inn in Ambleside.
Despite the doom and gloom picture of Britain’s pubs, with closures currently averaging one a day in 2025, the Good Food Guide said it aimed to celebrate the nation’s thriving appetite for genuine pubs with proper food and proper beer – and the growing number of venues that were delivering it.
Editor of The Good Food Guide, Chloë Hamilton, said: “We went searching for the pubs that nail the drinking and dining side of the equation.”
