The Meat Hook is a finalist in the Specialist Retailer of the Year category.

Opened at the start of 2022, The Meat Hook is a traditional artisan butchers’ shop with a modern twist.

The main ethos of the shop are provenance and quality.

We believe that Cumbria provides the best meat in the country, and because of this we source all our meat from local farms within 10 miles of the shop door.

By doing this we are able to keep food mileage to a minimum and have full traceability of all our products.

We are a traditional full carcass butchery. This not only provides an array of delicious cuts of meat you may never have heard of.

But is also the best way to show full respect to the animals and to the planet as a whole.

On top of this we have a state of the art dry aging system in which all of our Hereford beef steak pieces are hung for a minimum of 30 days ensuring delicious taste and excellent eating quality.

We always say “support local and eat better meat a little less often”.
