There is going to be plenty to raise a glass to when Keswick Brewery celebrates its 20th anniversary later this month.
It brought the town’s rich brewing history back to life when it began operating in 2006 on the site of the Old Keswick Brewing Company which was a brewery more than 130 years ago.
The brewery has survived through many challenges over the years and has won many awards including national gold accolades for drinks it has created.
It was extended in October 2019 so it could offer a larger brewery tap and beer garden.
Sue Jefferson, who runs the business, said: “We have always strived to make the best beer we can and continue to have this at the heart of what we do with new beers, a new lager and a gluten free range giving great choice.”
She added that the 20th anniversary seemed the perfect time to create some exciting and special ales. The brewery started the year with Goldscope and Mary’s and it will launch two new special beers as part of the birthday celebrations on Saturday April 25.
Big Sue – a double IPA – has been created to mark 20 years of Sue brewing and running Keswick Brewery.
It is packed with New Zealand southern cross, pacific gem and riwaka hops.
Joining Big Sue is Little Sue at 3.8 per cent using the same malts and hops. Both will be launching at the party and will also be available in cans.
Other beers are planned for later in the year.
There is to be a party at the brewery, from noon to 8pm, to celebrate which will feature the new beers, live music by Graham Bell and street food by Katvandu which will be bringing along authentic Nepali curries.
