Three Cumbrian venues are in the running to be named pub of the year in national awards.

The Black Bull in Sedbergh, The Brown Horse Inn near Windermere and The King’s Arms in Hawkshead are county finalists in the  National Pub and Bar Awards 2026.

In total 252 businesses have been shortlisted for the awards, now in their 10th year, which showcase the best in the country.

County winners will be revealed at a ceremony on June 10 at an event in London.

James Ratcliffe, co-owner of Sedbergh’s Black Bull, said: “Being shortlisted for the National Pub & Bar Awards 2026 is a fantastic recognition for the whole team.

“We’re passionate about creating a warm, welcoming pub where guests can enjoy great food, well-kept beer and quality wines in a characterful setting.

“This nomination reflects the hard work and care our team puts in every day, and we’re incredibly proud to be representing Cumbria on a national stage.

“We’re looking forward to celebrating with fellow finalists in June.”
